Every school child knows the joy of making words (and it has to be said, especially rude words!) on a calculator. The link below left opens a text file of 824 possible words, most discovered by me, including proper nouns and words which may only be familiar to Scrabble players. Here is how the number/letter relate to each other:0=O/D 1=I 2=Z 3=E 4=h 5=S 6=g 7=L 8=B On the right is an HTML file which allows you to explore these words for yourself. The first part reverses a block of text and the second substitutes those letters for numerals which you can then enter into a calculator. The generator itself is an HTML file which will open in your browser. Open the text file then rename and save it as calc.html. The 'HTML' extension is important, because you can then click on the icon and it will open as the HTML page in your browser. Have fun and do send me some of your creations! Major Update At the bottom left of this page, you can open a text file which contains the massive, definitive 1455 word lexicon of possible Calculator Words. This includes slang, such as shizzle, some quite exotic words from the many dialects around the world, proper nouns and yet more words you'll only find on a Scrabble board and in cryptic crosswords. It includes the 11 letter words shigellosis and shigelloses and the longest word possible, which weighs in with 12 letters - bibliologies |

Now for some fun. Here are three 'micro stories' composed with only those numbers/letters permissable on a calculator. Number 1 'Hedgehog' Leslie Bligh ogled, he beheld Zoe Leigh's bobsleigh. So she sold Leslie sled. And the corresponding numbers (each line read backwards) 0.375 317537 0.705 345 0.5 461375808 546137 302 0.73438 34 0.3760 46178 317537
How it would look on (a really big!) upside down calculator. Finally, this one's a bit rude, so cover your eyes if you're a bit squeamish! It employs the 11 letter word - Hillbillies - and they are a pretty racy pair! Obese Hillbillies Bessie, Lizzie googled dildos. Lizzie giggled, Bessie sighed. And the corresponding numbers (each line read backwards) 0.34615 315538 0.376616 312217 500710 0.376006 312217 315538 53177187714 35380

Here's another. Shiloh is an Old Testament Messianic title, said to mean He Whose It Is (Genesis 49:10) and a frequently quoted town in Ephriam (Joshua 18:1) Ollie's ideologies obliges his hellish idols. And the corresponding numbers (ach line read backwards) 57001 4517734 514 5361780 5316070301 531770
